I used the cooling vest and cap for the first time last Tuesday during my running training. 5.30 pm in the evening – 36°. I was out for over an hour and was immediately very surprised. Despite being “overweight”, I had hardly any sweat on my forehead and upper body. Very interesting: almost no signs of fatigue after the heat run.
Wednesday: first training on the bike. Again around 36°. I was able to ride 3 turns, each between 20 and 30 minutes, without any major heat issue. I also misused the expensive “Porsche” wristband and inserted it into the helmet as a sweatband.
Velcro fasteners laboriously cut off. It was worth it.
I had a “clear” head at all times. We should definitely continue to work on this: not just a sweatband, but complete, close-fitting “head protection” – but not too thick.
Saturday, race in Goldbach: despite a thunderstorm at midday and pleasant
23° I used a vest and headband. As you told me
I didn’t necessarily feel any cooling during the race – but I was always super focused and pretty fast for the full 2 hours.
For the first time, I was able to put my team and club colleague under pressure. In the end, the age difference of 5 years was noticeable – I’m now 53 – and for me, as a self-employed person, there was also an ongoing training deficit. Nevertheless, I was satisfied with my performance.
In the end, the two of us had lapped all but 3rd place.
There were 3 classes in our race – around 160 riders. Kevin Abele was also represented in sport class C. He won his class – but also had 1 lap less than me at the end, i.e. about 6 minutes behind.
All in all, a good start with your product!
The vest and “headband” will be my everyday companions.
