ICHTHYOSIS: HELP FOR THE RISK OF HEAT EXHAUSTION

I have suffered from the skin disease ichthyosis since birth. Ichthyosis is an overproduction of calluses, which causes the skin to flake heavily. This clogs the sweat glands and prevents me from sweating. Since I have this skin disease all over my body, I cannot sweat at all. In summer, dangerous situations often arise because the body heats up too much. I sometimes spend very hot days in the basement to avoid heat build-up. The skin needs to be cared for very carefully with baths and ointments.

Thanks to the Powercool SX3 race vest, I was able to experience for the first time in my life what it’s like to be able to release the heat built up in your body over your entire upper body.
