HEAT STRESS IN MOTOR SPORT IS NOT NECESSARY

Accidents in motorsports are often dangerous and can easily be life-threatening. That is why it is important to concentrate and perform 100%, especially at high speeds.
Unfortunately, according to scientific studies, sweating requires 70-80% of energy. This is really exhausting for the body. But this also means that this energy is no longer available for the muscles. The “battery” runs out more quickly. In addition, the fluid for sweating  is drawn from other parts of the body. This means that there is less of the important (blood) fluid in the brain compared to cooler days. Concentration and performance suffer in heat. A study by the University of Wuppertal examined accident behavior based on different temperatures. At 27°C there are 10% more accidents and at 37° the figure is over 30%.

THE RIGHT COOLING DETERMINES VICTORY OR DEFEAT

High temperatures place maximum demands on our cardiovascular system, as the body suffers from fluid loss and heat build-up in hot weather. Performance and concentration drop significantly. Even top athletes are not immune to this. Quite the opposite! Especially when it comes to top-class sporting performances at the top of the world, a 1% difference in performance can make the difference between 1st and 8th place. According to sports science, a loss of 1.5-2% fluid leads to a loss of performance of 4%. Heat is therefore the difference between victory and defeat. In serious cases, heat build-up with a sharp increase in body temperature can lead to heat stroke or even the failure of vital organs. However, these effects can be prevented with appropriate cooling. In the YouTube video below, Lotus Formula 1 team boss Paul Seaby explains what can be done about it.

HEAT RACE IN MOTORSPORT

Not only in Formula 1, but also when riding a motorbike, cooling shirts or cooling waistcoats cool perfectly, motorbike world champion Sandro Cortese knows from his own experience. When it’s hot in motocross, of course, the same applies. This not only helps to keep your strength up until the last minute of the race, but also benefits your concentration, which can easily drop by 20-30% at 30-40°C, as the University of Wuppertal found in a study. If you want to be at the front of the pack in a race, you have to perform at 100%. That is not possible in the heat. High temperatures can easily lead to lapses in concentration, which often not only cost time but can also lead to accidents. This does not have to be the case. That’s why there’s E.COOLINE. For performance, concentration and better health.

CLIMATE-FRIENDLY COOLING IN MOTORSPORTS

Car and motorbike racing are particularly in the climate discussion. Electric cars, which will be used in races in the future, also have high CO2 emissions in production and “recycling”. Therefore, smart cooling function products should be sustainable and climate-friendly, especially in motorsport. E.COOLINE is partly produced by upcycling and reusing waste fibres. In addition, the energy consumption is significantly lower compared to “ice waistcoats” or cooling products with compressors. There is also usually no need for pre-cooling in the freezer or ice, which is associated with high energy consumption and additional CO2 emissions. E.COOLINE converts heat naturally into effective cooling through evaporative cooling of water. In addition, all products have been climate-neutral since 2013. Our company won the Climate Protection Award 2019/2020 for this. This means that all motor sports enthusiasts cool themselves CO2 neutrally with E.COOLINE and thus protect not only themselves but also the environment.
